Tea Time for me isn’t about fussy sandwiches and sweets – I’m more apt to go in this direction.  A simple, delicous treat of thick, crusty locally made bread, pure unsalted butter and a true delicacy:  local spring wildflower honey.  As I sit sipping my tea from a sturdy mug in the depths of winter, I can imagine the coming spring and the bees in the salt marshes gathering pollen to create this almost translucent,  exquisite edible.  Ahhh, spring is right around the corner!local-newburyport-ma-wildflower-honey

There is a great bakery here in Newburyport, Annarosa’s, that cooks up fantastic loaves and goodies. My favorite is  their hearty Ciabatta ….. all those nooks and crannies really hold the creamy, fresh  butter.  local-honey-bread-and-butter

They are also perfect for getting the delicate honey right in there!  While this simple snack is terrific just like that, a quick trip under the broiler really brings out the best of everything.

Crispy chewy crust, butter even better melted and warm fragrant honey……….the best of both  savory and sweet, together for a memorable treat.
